1. Why can't I sign into Vectone
World?
There are a number of issues that can cause
problems signing into Vectone World.
The first thing you should do is make sure
you're using the correct Vectone World Name and password. If you
have forgotten your password you can request a password reminder
here.
If your password is correct but you’re still
having trouble signing into Vectone World, you may be having
connection problems. We advise you go through the following
checklist to help fix your connection problems:
- Close Vectone World. If you have a router, reboot your
router.
- Check your firewall settings. If you are using the Windows
inbuilt firewall, click Start > Control Panel > Windows
Firewall, and make sure ‘Don’t Allow Exceptions’ is not
ticked.
- If you are using a different firewall, click Start > All
Programs and select your firewall. Make sure that exceptions are
allowed. Go to the Exceptions tab. If Vectone World is listed,
delete it. Start Vectone World. When prompted, select ‘Yes’ to
allow Vectone World to connect to the internet
- If you are on a network that uses a proxy server, make sure
your proxy settings are correct. To check proxy settings in
Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options >
Connections > LAN settings.
2. Why can't my friends hear me when I
call them?
The first thing you should do is to check that
your microphone is connected and switched on.
- To connect your microphone: plug its plug with the microphone
symbol into the port on your computer with the matching
symbol.
- To connect your speakers: plug its plug with the headphones
symbol into the port on your computer with the matching
symbol.
- To connect your headset: plug both plugs into the matching
ports on your computer.
If your microphone is connected and you still
have problems with voice check the audio settings on your PC. You
can usually adjust the audio by clicking on the small icon at the
bottom right of your PC. If you don’t see any icon, then go to:
Start > Control Panel > Sound and Audio
devices > here you can adjust your audio settings.
Make sure that the volume is turned up and all
necessary audio settings are enabled.
3. My call quality is poor. Is there
something I can do?
There are several steps which may improve the
quality of your Vectone World calls.
- Make sure all your computer's drivers are
up-to-date (sound, video, motherboard controllers etc – We advise
you contact the manufacturers of your hardware for updated
drivers).
- Also make sure your firewall/router is not blocking Vectone
World in any way.
- Another way of improving quality is to shut down any file
sharing applications or internet software that consumes a lot of
bandwidth.
4. I hear echo when I make calls. How
can I fix this?
In windows control panel, open your system
sound properties, click the recording tab and make sure your
microphone is not muted, and if calls are suffering from echo click
mute on Stereo Mix.
5. Do I need to import my external
contacts every time I sign in?
No, you should only have to do this once, but
please note that it can take a few minutes for the imported
contacts to be imported after you sign into Vectone World.
